Imam Abubakar Abdullahi, the Chief Imam of Yelwa, Gindin Akwati in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, has handed away.
The late cleric grew to become nationally and internationally recognized in June 2018, when armed attackers stormed communities in Barkin Ladi.
He opened his mosque and residential to shelter lots of of Christians, reportedly saving nearly 300 lives, and refused at hand them over regardless of threats to his personal life.
His act of bravery earned him widespread recognition, together with the 2019 Worldwide Spiritual Freedom Award from the USA authorities.
The Plateau State Authorities, in a press release signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Gyang Bere, on Friday, mourned the late Imam
Governor Caleb Mutfwang described Imam Abdullahi’s demise as “a monumental loss to his instant household, his group, and Plateau State at giant.”
In response to the assertion, the governor mentioned the Imam’s life was distinguished by “unwavering dedication to peace, unity, and safety of the weak, significantly ladies and youngsters.”
The assertion added, “Governor Mutfwang noticed that the loss comes at a time when the state tremendously wanted the steerage, knowledge, and unifying presence of Imam Abubakar Abdullahi.
“He urged the instant household and the complete group to take solace within the data that the late Imam lived a lifetime of religion, compassion, and equity, abandoning a legacy of service and peaceable coexistence.”
