JUST IN: Police conduct bomb checks at Borno worship centres 24 hours after Maidugiri suicide assault

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit of the Borno State Police Command has commenced routine sweeps at worship centres and leisure areas throughout the state.

The transfer comes twenty-four (24) after the suicide assault at a Maidugiri Mosque in Gamboru Market on Wednesday, December 24.

The train adopted a directive by Naziru Abdulmajid, Commissioner of Police in Borno, to make sure security and a hitch-free Christmas celebration.

In an announcement by ASP Nahum Daso, the police spokesman within the state, the command stated the EOD unit, Base 13 Maiduguri, carried out scanning and screening of individuals and autos in public areas.

The police stated the operation was aimed toward proactive security and safety of residents through the festive interval.

The command urged members of the general public to stay vigilant and promptly report suspicious individuals, actions or objects.

It stated such studies may be made on the nearest police station or via emergency numbers 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293.
