JUST IN: Gunmen assault Abia governor’s advance group in Imo

Three workers members hooked up to the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, had been on Tuesday morning attacked by unidentified gunmen close to the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The incident, which occurred between Umuowa and Ihite junction—only a brief distance from the airport—befell whereas the officers had been en path to the power for official duties.

Sources instructed newsmen that the attackers, suspected to be fleeing gunmen, opened fireplace on the automobile conveying the aides as they approached the airport hall.

Otti’s Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha, confirmed the event in an announcement on Tuesday, noting that the affected officers had been a part of an advance group and never the governor’s convoy.

Ukoha acknowledged, “Within the early hours of as we speak, December 2nd, an advance group of three members from the Workplace of the Govt Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, on obligation to Sam Mbakwe Airport, Imo State, was attacked by unidentified gunmen.

“The incident occurred between Umuowa and Ihite junction, shortly earlier than the Sam Mbakwe Airport Junction in Imo State.”

He additional clarified that Governor Otti was not concerned within the incident and that no casualties had been recorded.

“Most of the people is hereby knowledgeable that the convoy of Governor Otti was not concerned on this assault, and no lives had been misplaced through the unlucky incident,” the assertion added.

The Imo State Police Command had but to touch upon the assault as of the time of submitting this report.
