The University of Ibadan has honoured a loyalist of President Bola Tinubu, Kehinde Olaosebikan, for his contributions to the establishment of the institution’s Sports Academy.
Olaosebikan received the Iconic Friend of the University of Ibadan Sports Academy award on Tuesday at the headquarters of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Kehinde Olaosebikan Grassroots Movement in Olomi, Ibadan.
A delegation from the university, led by the Chairman of the UI Sports Academy, Prof Olufemi Adegbesan, presented the award on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kayode Adebowale.
Adegbesan said the honour was in recognition of Olaosebikan’s contributions and support towards the establishment of the academy.
He said, “On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof K.O. Adebowale, I present this award to Hon Kehinde Olaosebikan as an Iconic Friend of the Academy in recognition of your selfless service and immense contributions to the establishment of the Sports Academy of the University of Ibadan.”
According to him, Olaosebikan’s commitment to sports and youth development had contributed to efforts aimed at actualising the vision of the academy.
Other members of the delegation were Prof Nureni Adewole and the Secretary of the UI Sports Academy, Dr Ajijola Mullie.
Responding, Olaosebikan, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Midas Communications Limited, thanked the university management for the recognition.
He said his support for the academy was driven by its focus on sports and youth development.
Olaosebikan added, “The Renewed Hope Agenda places emphasis on initiating, supporting and promoting activities, programmes and structures designed to further the growth of Nigeria in all aspects, especially in sports and youth development.”
He pledged continued support for the academy and expressed optimism that it would realise the university’s vision of becoming a leading sports academy on the continent.
