Brighton Women goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is back with her club after an outing to forget at the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
At the tournament, she conceded six goals as the Super Falcons crashed out in the quarter-finals, plus two other goals against South Africa in the ill-fated 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup playoffs.
She was criticised for a poor tournament as the 10-time champions failed to defend their title and also missed out on a World Cup spot.
The former Rivers Angels goalkeeper will now hope to put that behind her as the new season begins this weekend.
“Few minutes in the pre-season friendly. Looking forward to a big weekend,” she wrote via X ahead of their opening WSL fixture against Arsenal on Sunday.
Brighton Women will host Arsenal in their opening game on Sunday at Broadfield Stadium.
Last season, Nnadozie finished the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League season with the highest save percentage, ending her first campaign in England as the division’s top shot-stopper.
According to official league statistics published by the WSL at he end of last season,, the Super Falcons goalkeeper recorded 74.7 per cent saves, the highest among all goalkeepers who made at least 10 league appearances during the season.
Nnadozie narrowly edged Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton, who finished second with 74.6 per cent, while Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce placed third with 73.6 per cent.
During her debut WSL campaign, the 25-year-old faced 83 shots on target across 19 league matches. She saved 62 of those efforts, establishing herself as one of the league’s most reliable goalkeepers despite playing her first season in one of the world’s most competitive women’s leagues.
Her performances also helped Brighton remain competitive against the division’s strongest clubs, including reaching the Women’s FA Cup final, where they lost to Manchester City.
She kept six clean sheets, the joint-fourth-highest tally in the WSL, and prevented an estimated 3.3 goals, underlining her ability to make difficult saves and keep her team in matches.
Last season, she won the WSL Save of the Month award after producing a brilliant fingertip stop against Liverpool. That stunning save also earned her a place on the shortlist for the league’s Save of the Season award.
