Iran has claimed that it carried out a strike on a data centre linked to Oracle in Dubai. According to Iranian state media, the country’s military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said it directly targeted the facility.
However, this claim has not been independently confirmed.
UAE Rejects Iran’s Claim
Authorities in Dubai have denied the claim. The Dubai government’s media office said there was no such attack on any Oracle-related data centre in the city.
Earlier Claim of Attack on Amazon Site in Bahrain
This is not the first such claim. Earlier, the IRGC also said it had targeted a cloud computing centre linked to Amazon in Bahrain.
Iran said these actions were in response to attacks on its own territory.
Focus on US Tech Companies in the Gulf
These claims show that Iran may be focusing on US-linked technology infrastructure in the Gulf region. The situation is raising concerns about the safety of major tech facilities in the area.
Iran Warns Major Global Companies
The IRGC had earlier warned that it could target several big global companies. These include Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, IBM, Tesla, and Boeing.
Iran warned that their operations in the region could be attacked as part of retaliation.
Employees Asked to Leave Workplaces
Iran also warned employees working at these companies to leave their workplaces for safety. It said these companies could become targets because of their role in technology and intelligence systems.
US Responds to Iran’s Threat
A White House official said that the United States is ready to respond to any attack. The official added that the US military is prepared and has already taken steps to reduce threats like missile and drone strikes.
