US President Donald Trump said his administration is “talking to the right people” in Iran and claimed Tehran “wants to make a deal so badly.” Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of Markwayne Mullin as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Trump also asserted that Iran has agreed to a key US demand, ‘it will never have nuclear weapons.’

Trump claimed Iran has accepted the US red line on nuclear weapons. “It all starts with them not having a nuclear weapon,” he said, adding that Iran has “agreed” to that condition, though he did not provide details of any signed agreement, verification steps, or timeline.

Trump also said the US received a “present” from Iran worth “a tremendous amount of money,” calling it a “very significant prize.” When pressed, he suggested it was not nuclear-related, but connected to oil and gas and referenced the Strait of Hormuz a crucial route for global energy shipments. He did not publicly explain what the “present” was.
