Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, has delivered a sobering verdict: life for ordinary Nigerians is now harder than when Tinubu assumed office in 2023.

Speaking on Trust TV, Baba-Ahmed did not mince words. He pointed to soaring inflation, skyrocketing unemployment, and the rising cost of living, warning that the economy is failing millions of citizens. “Families are struggling to make ends meet. Rural and urban areas alike are facing scarcity, uncertainty, and hopelessness,” he said.

The former adviser also highlighted the nation’s deteriorating security situation. Kidnappings, violent clashes, and communal tensions have become disturbingly routine, leaving communities unsafe and shaking public confidence. Baba-Ahmed stressed that these challenges are more than isolated incidents—they reveal deep structural weaknesses and poor implementation of security policies.

On governance, Baba-Ahmed slammed the administration for failing to fulfill campaign promises, pointing to weak leadership, inadequate public services, and policy gaps that have fueled disillusionment. “The president himself would admit that he has failed to do this, to live up to the promises he has made and to make Nigerians safe,” he warned.
