The empowerment programme was disrupted in Owerri on Saturday when members and a few locals stormed the venue. The disruption reportedly triggered a stampede and looting of things meant for distribution to youths throughout the south-east.
In an announcement issued on Sunday in Abuja, Francis Shoga, the motion’s director-general, confirmed the disruption on the rally, including that it was swiftly introduced beneath management, with no fatalities or lacking individuals recorded.
Reacting to the event, Egede described the incident as “unlucky, unpatriotic, and detrimental to youth growth efforts throughout the South-East,” stressing that such actions undermine real initiatives aimed toward empowering younger Nigerians.
