The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Wednesday dragged one Andrew Odekina before the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, over alleged theft of N9, 873,215.00.
Odekina was arraigned before Justice Dada Mojisola on a one-count charge bordering on retention of proceeds of criminal conduct.
This offence is contrary to Section 17(a) and (b) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004.
The charge stated that Odekina, alongside others still at large, allegedly received and retained N9,873,215.00 in his FCMB account in 2025.
The prosecution further stated that the sum formed part of a larger N3.09 billion fraudulently obtained from accounts domiciled with FCMB through unauthorised access and fraudulent activities carried out on the bank’s digital platforms.
When the charge was read, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel Babatunde Sonoiki requested a trial date and urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending trial.
Odekina, however, had no legal representation during the proceedings.
