A Sexual Offences and Home Violence courtroom sitting in Ikeja, Lagos has sentenced two males, 22 year-old painter, Edidiong Edem, and 21 year-old mechanic, Alex Effiong Etim, to fifteen years imprisonment for flogging their brother ‘s 12-year-old housemaid with a brush which led to her demise.
Justice Abiola Soladoye sentenced the defendants, Edem and Etim after they entered a plea discount Treaty .
The sufferer was working for the convicts’ brother as a housemaid. It began when their brother’s spouse was admitted in a hospital and their brother was away to stick with his spouse within the facility. Whereas they have been away, the defendants, Edem and Etim, began having illegal sexual activity with the sufferer. The offence is involuntary manslaughter which contravenes Sections 224 of the Prison Regulation C.17, Vol 3 of Lagos State, 2015.
