President Bola Tinubu has hailed Nigeria’s election to the Worldwide Maritime Organisation (IMO) Council, describing it as a robust endorsement of the nation’s maritime management.

Nigeria was re-elected into Class C of the IMO Council for the 2026–2027 biennium throughout the organisation’s Basic Meeting in London on Friday, ending a 14-year absence.
Tinubu stated the result displays world confidence in Nigeria’s dedication to maritime security, safety, environmental safety, and adherence to internationally accepted requirements governing world delivery operations.
