PDP mourns as Bayelsa deputy governor dies after sudden collapse in workplace

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo has died on the age of 60.

Ewhrudjakpo was stated to have died after he collapsed in his workplace in Yenagoa.

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre within the state capital on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

The late deputy governor reportedly slumped in his workplace about 1:30 p.m., and was moved into the hospital’s emergency division and positioned in Intensive Care Unit.

The deputy governor’s media aide, Doubara Atasi confirmed the event however declined to provide particulars.

Hospital sources disclosed that Ewhrudjakpo died after efforts to revive him within the Intensive Care Unit failed.

Born on September 5, 1965, Ewhrudjakpo had served because the deputy governor of Bayelsa State since 2020.

In the meantime, the Peoples Democratic Celebration stated it obtained with deep shock the information of the passing of the deputy governor whom he described as a trusted, devoted celebration man.
