Nigerian Defence Academy Clears Air Over Studies of Lacking Cadet Gani

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a clarification following on-line experiences suggesting that cadet Stephen Gani went lacking from the establishment and not using a correct response from authorities.

In an announcement launched on Friday and signed by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Main Reuben Kovangiya, the NDA stated the experiences have been deceptive and didn’t precisely mirror the circumstances surrounding the cadet’s absence.

“The report alleged that the cadet mysteriously went lacking from the Academy with out acceptable actions taken by NDA to establish his whereabouts,” the assertion stated.

In keeping with the NDA, Cadet SK Gani was admitted into the establishment as a member of the 76 Common Course and started coaching on 26 August 2024.

The Academy acknowledged that the cadet later absented himself with out authorisation, prompting the establishment to observe established procedures.

“His coaching progressed with out situation, however he was noticed to have absented himself from the Academy from 28 April 2025 with out official permission. In accordance with procedures and rules governing cadet administration, his mother and father have been formally notified three days after his absence,” the assertion defined.

Seven days after the incident, the cadet was formally struck off energy following due administrative procedures.

The NDA added that it reopened investigations after receiving suggestions from the cadet’s mother and father. “Suggestions later obtained from his mother and father indicated that his whereabouts couldn’t be ascertained, prompting renewed investigative procedures, that are ongoing,” the assertion learn.

The Academy rejected claims that it had didn’t act, urging the general public to ignore experiences suggesting inaction.
