The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has declared a 24-hour curfew in Lamurde Native Authorities Space following a recent outbreak of communal violence.
In a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Hammangabdo, on Monday, the governor instructed safety businesses to swiftly deploy to affected areas to revive peace and keep order.
In line with the assertion, Fintiri directed safety businesses to maneuver to the areas threatened by the renewed communal conflict to promptly restore peace and order.
The assertion reads, “The Adamawa State Authorities has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Native Authorities Space with rapid impact following a renewed communal conflict that broke out on Sunday night.
“Signed by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, safety businesses have been directed to maneuver into the realm and restore peace and order at once.”
The federal government urged residents of Lamurde to stay calm and cooperate absolutely with safety operatives as efforts are underway to forestall additional escalation.
Panic has gripped components of Adamawa State as closely armed Chobo-speaking tribal militia from neighbouring Gombe State, joined their counterparts in Adamawa state and launched coordinated assaults on Bachama communities in Lamurde Native Authorities Space, leaving dozens feared lifeless.
Native sources mentioned that the attackers superior from the creeks bordering Gombe and overran a number of settlements from the western axis, sacking Tingno, Waduku and two different villages.
“They’ve burnt Waduku and Tingno to ashes,” one supply mentioned. “Our youths mobilised rapidly to cease them from pushing into Rigange.”
