Troopers connected to Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have killed a suspected bandit and recovered arms throughout a raid in Ukum native authorities space of Benue state.
The army mentioned the operation was carried out on November 11 at Mbagen neighborhood.
In an announcement on Tuesday, Ahmad Zubairu, appearing media data officer of OPWS, mentioned troops engaged the suspects in a firefight.
He mentioned one bandit was killed whereas the gang chief escaped.
Zubairu mentioned gadgets recovered included two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, six magazines, a grenade, two communication radios, 162 rounds of ammunition, and a motorbike.
He mentioned Moses Gara, pressure commander of OPWS, praised the troops for his or her “tactical proficiency and gallantry”.
Zubairu quoted the commander as saying the operation disrupted the actions of armed {groups} chargeable for killings and kidnappings within the space.
Gara was mentioned to have warned legal {groups} throughout Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba to desist or face penalties.
He mentioned OPWS will maintain offensive operations till “all armed legal gangs are flushed out”.
