Bandits terrorising communities within the North-West area of Nigeria have reportedly imposed a ₦20 million levy on farmers in Gatakawa village, Kankara Native Authorities Space of Katsina State.
The event was revealed on Wednesday by Bakatsine, a battle and disaster journalist who reviews on insecurity within the area.
In keeping with him, the armed {groups} are demanding the levy from farmers earlier than granting them entry to reap their crops.
Bakatsine condemned the continuing peace deal between bandits and native communities, arguing that it has solely worsened the plight of farmers and deepened worry within the area.
He wrote on X, “BREAKING: Bandits have reportedly imposed a ₦20 million levy on Gatakawa farmers earlier than permitting them to reap their crops — a chilling signal of deepening insecurity within the North West.
