Akpabio Threatens to Sue PDP Chieftain Over Alleged Defamatory Remarks

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has threatened to sue a Lagos State chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Occasion (PDP), Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, over what he described as false and defamatory statements made towards him throughout a stay broadcast.

In a requirement letter dated October 7, 2025, and signed by his authorized representatives, S. I. Ameh (SAN) & Co., Akpabio accused Pearse of constructing reckless and malicious remarks geared toward damaging his popularity.

The Senate President, by way of his legal professionals, directed Pearse to challenge a public apology and retraction inside three days or face authorized motion for defamation and legal incitement.

The letter, titled “Demand for Instant Retraction and Public Apology for Defamatory Publication In opposition to Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON,” acknowledged that in a political phase on Come up TV on October 4, 2025, Pearse made unverified allegations of corruption, manipulation, and criminality towards Akpabio.

Quoting Pearse, the letter referenced his feedback, “If we get extra girls within the Nationwide Meeting and we’ve a Senate President like Akpabio, what’s the level? The Nationwide Meeting we’ve now’s a rubber-stamp meeting.

“Any president who desires to control it could possibly achieve this. And this one is definitely manipulating it to the detriment of progress for Nigerians.

“Akpabio shouldn’t be President of the Senate. He’s a legal; he shouldn’t be there. He has circumstances within the EFCC, hundreds of thousands that he stole when he was governor… If he has legal circumstances, let him go and reply them. There’s no manner a person like that must be there within the first place.”

Akpabio’s authorized workforce described the feedback as “false in each materials specific,” insisting that they have been made with reckless disregard for the reality and in unhealthy religion.

“Our consumer finds these assertions deeply offensive, defamatory, and malicious. They painting him as a legal, corrupt politician, misogynist, and manipulator of democratic establishments, all of that are completely unfaithful,” the letter acknowledged.
