Residents alongside the Makurdi–Lafia freeway on Saturday blocked the highway in protest following the killing of 5 farmers on their strategy to the farm close to the outskirts of Makurdi, bordering Guma Native Authorities Space of Benue State.
The killings, which occurred in separate incidents on Friday and early Saturday, led to the villagers putting the corpses of three victims on the highway as a part of their protest.
In response to eyewitnesses, two people had been killed on Friday round Tse Adaa village in Guma, whereas three others had been brutally murdered Saturday morning within the Abagena and Atsom communities of Makurdi LGA.
